I just finished reading Princess Academy: Palace of Stone by Shannon Hale, which is the first book I chose off of the 2015 Intermediate Sequoyah Award consideration list. I found this book sitting on our bookcases several years ago, saw the word “Princess” in the title, and knew I Sequel: Princess Academy: Palace of Stone. Sent to an academy to learn how to become a princess, Miri soon finds herself confronted with a harsh mistress, bitter competition among the girls, and even bandits intent on kidnapping the future princess. Coming down from the mountain to a new life in the city is a thrill to Miri. Still, it took me a while to read her Newbery Honor book, Princess Academy. She and her princess academy friends have been brought to Asland to help the future princess Britta prepare for her wedding. I've been a fan of Shannon Hale's ever since I first read the Books of Bayern a few years back. This is the sequel to the Princess Academy. A couple chosen girls go to the capital after living their whole life at Mount Eskel to help the princess-to-be. This one I think is a little better than the first one but you should read both.
